On the weekend of September 6-7, thousands of ELCA members across the country will engage in service work to make a positive change in their communities, build and deepen relationships, and share God’s love. Holy Trinity’s Social Ministry team has coordinated two opportunities for participation:
Saturday, September 6: We are partnering with Lutheran Social Services (LSSI) to help in one of their group homes for residents in Irving Park. A team of eight people will perform “deep cleaning” in three-hour shifts: wash baseboards, vents, deep dusting, carpet cleaning, thorough kitchen cleaning, etc. Children over eight are welcome with their parents. Staff members will be on site to supervise and guide the work. Email Ingrid Nelson (ingridclarenelson@gmail.com) with questions. Sign up below.
Sunday, September 7: Join HTLC and LakeView Lutheran in creating no-sew blankets for 37 new residents of Lakeview Landing, the housing partner in LakeView Lutheran’s rebuilding project. The 37 one-bedroom apartments are 100% ADA accessible and will serve folks with limited income. This God’s work. Our hands. activity will be part of a project to make welcome blankets for those moving into the new space. The group will meet at 11 am following the Sunday morning liturgy at HTLakeview. Light lunch and drinks will be provided. Are you or your family interested in creating a warm welcome for the new residents? Email Mary Trela (malert64@gmail.com) with questions. Sign up below.
