Holy Trinity's Antiracism Ministry, as an extension of the antiracism ministry of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, "envisions a church where all people are equal, at all levels, as God intended" (anotherpebble.org). Antiracism work is challenging. As such, our ministry’s central responsibility is to initiate, facilitate, and nurture conversations and experiences that seek to break oppressive racial systems within our church, our communities, and within ourselves.

We consider the Antiracism Ministry to be a group of allies. Allies are passionate about antiracism work. They are resourceful. Allies both help introduce new people to this work and continue to do the hard work of grappling with antiracism in their own life experiences. It is our goal to keep allies connected to antiracism work at Holy Trinity. This connection may look like different things for different people. For some, it is attending meetings. For others, it's leading a book discussion, recruiting people for antiracism training, making antiracism resources available to the congregation (e.g. posting articles, reporting on community meetings, etc.). There are endless possibilities and combinations of ways to stay connected to this work.

The mission of Holy Trinity’s Anti-Racism Ministry is to engage the entire congregation in dismantling racist practices, systems, and ideas in ourselves, our church, and our community through the work of education, conversation, and advocacy.
